Media Note was created to make it easier for students in first year writing courses to compose projects that incorporate audio, video, or images. The program enabled students to create Hypercard projects without any knowledge of scripting by automating link creation. Later versions were hosted on a local network to facilitate interlinking and collaboration. Some highlights:
![]() |
| The program automated all of the scripting processes normally associated with Hypercard. No programing was required for students to create hypertexts containing a range of media. |
![]() |
| Hyperlinked nodes open a number of composing questions. Students learned to think about hypertextual structures for compositions with multiple areas of concern and used the program to create notes to extend text on any single node. |
![]() |
| Students learned to compose using media and text in complementary ways. The ability to integrate visual media was particularly helpful for helping students become more adept at reading and writing about non-textual forms. |
